Flight-Ready Cameras for Space

Raptor has some unique Space Heritage, with cameras flying as optical payloads on several live LEO Cubesat missions for Earth Observation as well as ground based stations. Camera cores are SWaP optimised, athermalised and ruggedised to withstand launch conditions and maintain optical performance while being exposed to the extreme operating conditions experienced in the space environment. Our in-depth knowledge and experience allow us to work with OEMs and integrators to offer unique custom design features that meet your imaging requirements.

Raptor cameras are on LEO satellites revolving at an altitude between 160 to 2,000 kilometers flying at approximately 17,000 mph. Some of our cameras have been operational for over 18 months. We offer LEO camera solutions from UV (180nm) to SWIR (1700nm).  We offer flight-ready COTS options as well as custom OEM designs in platforms from 1U to 10U.


Options include:

  • Space grade components inspected to IPC A610 Class 3 standards
  • All workmanship carried out to IPC-JSTD001GS (Space soldered) standards
  • No C-Mount, M42
  • Board level, supplied with/without conformal coatings
  • Extended operational temperature -40°C to +75°C
  • Flexi-rigid electronics to fit specific EO systems
  • Customized mechanics
  • Digital video output eg HD-SDI, Samtec, custom

High-performance cameras for Airborne

Raptor has been designing and manufacturing compact, SWaP optimised cameras for a range of airborne applications since 2006 with imaging solutions from UV to SWIR. Our cameras are ultra-sensitive, suitable for day, night and low-light vision and they are ruggedised to work in extreme conditions such as airborne gimbals and turrets. They are designed and to MilSpec standards.

The company offers both commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and military (MOTS) cameras as well as custom OEM solutions.

  • BS EN ISO 9001:2015 and IPC Class 3 Quality accreditation
  • Cameras are built to MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-704F standards.
  • Cameras designed for EMC & Environmental stress, shock & vibration.
  • Our cameras are designed to work in harsh climates, with electronics operating from -40°C to +75°C and conformally coated enabling them to work in high humidity or condensation environments
